Anniversary Holidays to Greece

Small towns with sea views and slow evenings suit couples who want atmosphere more than activity.

• Oia, Santorini: Oia sits at the northern tip of Santorini, and its whitewashed houses and blue domes look out over the caldera. The village becomes busy around sunset in peak season, so couples who want the view without the crowds should book a hotel in Oia itself and watch the light fade from their own terrace before the day visitors arrive. We favour this for anniversaries because the evenings feel private once the coaches leave. It is exactly the brief our Santorini holidays deals are built around.
• Nafplio, Peloponnese: Nafplio is a harbour town with Venetian and Ottoman history, and the Palamidi fortress rises above its streets. It works well for couples who want a calmer base within easy reach of Athens, since it is a popular day trip from the capital. Its waterfront tavernas and narrow lanes give the evenings a relaxed, unhurried character that suits a milestone celebration.
• Chania Old Harbour, Crete: The Old Venetian Harbour in Chania is lined with waterfront restaurants and Venetian buildings, and its lighthouse at the entrance is a popular landmark. Couples often spend long evenings here, moving from one table to the next as the lights come on across the water. We suggest staying in the old quarter so you can walk back after dinner without needing a taxi. It is exactly the brief our Crete holidays deals are built around.
• Kalambaka, Thessaly: Kalambaka is the town below the Meteora monasteries, set against towering rock pillars that make an unusual backdrop for a celebration. Couples who want something different from beach resorts often choose it for a quieter, more reflective stay. The monasteries are best seen early or late in the day, when the light is softer and the paths are less busy.
• Parikia, Paros: Parikia is the main town of Paros and has a traditional harbour with whitewashed streets close to the water. It is less crowded than Mykonos or Santorini, which makes it a good choice for couples who want island charm without a packed schedule, the same brief our Greece Last Minute Holidays deals are built around. Ferries connect Paros with Piraeus, so the journey is straightforward, and the town has enough restaurants to make every evening feel different.
