Bed and Breakfast Holidays to Canary Islands

Resorts on the Canary Islands offer a strong mix of breakfast-led hotels and easy access to restaurants, making them practical bases for a bed and breakfast stay.

• Playa de las Américas: Playa de las Américas has the widest choice of hotels offering breakfast in the south of the island, and it is within walking distance of a large number of restaurants, bars and cafés. Breakfast buffets here are generally generous, which suits guests who want an early start before heading out for a full day. The trade-off is a lively atmosphere that can be busy in the evenings, so this resort suits travellers who enjoy energy and variety. We think it is one of the most flexible bed and breakfast bases in the Canary Islands. It is exactly the brief our holiday deals for the Canary Islands are built around. • Maspalomas: Maspalomas pairs hotels that serve breakfast with a calmer resort feel and easy access to the dunes and long sandy beaches to the south. The resort has a good spread of restaurants along its promenade, so guests on a breakfast-only plan can choose their evening meals without travelling far. Expect a quieter pace than the busiest resorts, with more emphasis on relaxed days by the sea. For guests who value a quieter base with plenty of dining choice, we rate Maspalomas highly. • Puerto de la Cruz: Puerto de la Cruz on the island's north coast is a traditional resort town with a historic old quarter, where a number of guesthouses and hotels serve breakfast and restaurants serve local dishes at reasonable prices. The town is a short drive from Teide National Park, so day trips fit well around a breakfast-based stay. The north coast tends to be cooler and greener than the south, which some guests prefer. We recommend it for travellers who want culture and a calmer base over a purely beach-focused break.
• Playa Blanca: Playa Blanca in the south of the island has a compact seafront with breakfast-serving hotels and a good selection of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Ferry links to the neighbouring isle across the water from the northern port town make it a useful base if you want to combine two islands on one trip. The resort is quieter than many on the larger islands, so there are fewer late-night options but a more restful evening. We think it works especially well for a relaxed bed and breakfast holiday with sandy beaches on the doorstep. It is exactly the brief our holidays deals in this part of the Canaries are built around. • Corralejo: Corralejo is a fishing village at the north tip of the island, with a number of guesthouses and smaller hotels that serve breakfast and a growing choice of seafood restaurants. It sits beside the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, so mornings can be spent walking or cycling before a relaxed lunch at a harbour café. Self-catering supermarkets are limited compared with the larger towns, so plan breakfast top-ups carefully. For travellers who like water sports and a village atmosphere, we think Corralejo is an excellent bed and breakfast base. It is exactly the brief our island holiday deals are built around.
