6 Nights Rome, Florence & Venice Triple Centre W/Flts

The room was advertised as deluxe and was far from. It was small, dark and very basic, something you would expect in a 3*. The window had privacy screening as we were facing a balcony with seating. The rooms in the other photo reviews look lovely, this was definitely not ours. The staff on reception were not helpful, we requested (on booking) a twin room but were told on arrival that none were available. After discussion with the provider the hotel did provide a twin room (probably why we got the room we we given). We subsequently booked a different hotel and checked out. At check out the reception staff were less than apologetic, discussing us in Italian, causing an uncomfortable situation. I do understand a little Italian and can only advise the hotel reception staff not to assume the customer does not understand what they are saying.

Room very basic but spotlessy clean which is the main thing for us. We are hardly in the room so aslong as it is clean and comfortable it does us fine. We did find the room hot but understand that you dont get air con the time of year we went so understand its not the hotels fault. The view was of a contrustion site and we could hear banging and hammering etc quite early morning but again it is just one of them things and not the hotel to blame. We like to be up and out exploring so wasnt a problem for us but i can imagine maybe a problem for some. Great location. Not far from all the main attractions Venice has to offer and lots of shops, cafes, restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend

We stayed in the annexe (2 minutes walk, down an alley and up to 1st floor). Historic building, modernised inside. Good bathrooms with modern fittings; very good breakfast in small restaurant through the main hotel lobby. Pleasant staff. Great location, near Vaporetto stops S Marcuolo and Ca' D'oro; about 10 minute walk to Fondamenta Nove. Lots of nice restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Lovely area for getting down quiet side streets and wandering around away from the crowds. Only downside was that double rooms were small, especially 506 which would have been better with a single bed, plus lack of drawers/shelf space though both rooms had a wardrobe.

The first big tick is the location, which is so close to the favourite meeting spot in the city, St Marks Square. The Concordia will serve a lovely breakfast but meals beyond that are not really offered, and that is understandable as there are literally a dozen restaurants just a few steps away, some outstanding some merely good. Of course we did not stay long enough to try them all. The only thing I didn’t like was that the hotel entrance was in the next street across from St Marks and opened directly onto a staircase as the small hotel lift did not go to the street level but only to the hotel reception one floor up. This we were told was due to Venice’s well known propensity to flood. Not a big deal but after walking all over Venice, up and over the many canal bridges and you arrive back at your hotel for a well deserved rest, there is always one more staircase to climb! The room itself was a decent size although the bathroom and shower in particular was on the small side. The bedding was very comfortable and the decor excellent. The hotel has one room with access to a small roof terrace. We did not book that room but we were given access to the terrace for a quick look, something well worth asking about. The room TV only featured Italian language channels, but you don’t really go to Venice to watch TV. Anyhow overall a great hotel, good service at a fair price and worth a visit.

We booked this hotel because of the great reviews and really wanted the authentic Venetian experience. We arrived and the lobby was small but quite lovely with a fountain and marble stairs. The reception was also quite pleasant. We were met with a young gentleman who was smiling and kind. We had travelled quite a bit and stopped in Bologna before getting to Venice with 2 children. There was a lady at the front desk with a stern look on her face checking and double checking our reservation. She announced that our reservation was only for 2 people and kept repeating it over and over. I could see the look on my children’s faces. We stayed in 3 hotels back to back prior to this arrival as we were visiting a few European countries on their Easter break and all our experiences were amazing. I asked the kids to sit away from where the lady was speaking to us as she didn’t seem to have much or any hospitality experience. Her attitude was only from a cost perspective. We booked 9 hotels on Expedia all in one go for our trip to the UK, Paris, Milan, Venice, Rome, Madrid, Seville and Barcelona. Only 2 cities did we have a shared room with our kids and Venice was one of them. This is because a suite of over 600 euros a night was a available in Venice and we opted for this one to be with our kids. The suite has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was our mistake as we didn’t change the settings from 2 persons per room to 4 persons per room. The lady kept saying to us ‘you need to pay. The cost is different’ and not in a way that was kind or understanding. She walked away and came back with a cost of our children for an extra 100 euro a night. We said fine but she left a bitter taste and we tried to put it aside. The guest relations manager then came out and was absolutely lovely. Smiling and recommending options for tours and restaurant. He was a saving grace. Our luggage was taken to our suite which was spacious but extremely old. There is so much about the room that I don’t understand. No plugs but the beds, the lamps missing light bulbs, no black out curtains, a string to take the lights on and off, old terrazzo looking floors, a big dent in the floor in the hallway, bathroom doors that don’t close properly and the air condition that doesn’t work properly. The shower is handheld so it keeps spinning around wetting the entire small bathroom. The bathroom is well appointed and more modern than the rest of the room. The breakfast was dismal though the staff there are so lovely. There is no toaster or slices of bread. The buns are hard like rocks. The kids found absolutely nothing to eat. Absolutely nothing. We begged them to try the cold bread buns and they kept knocking on it with their knuckles so we could hear how hard it was. I only found fruit and so we are always starving and looking for breakfast to buy after the breakfast. Anyway, we leave tomorrow and though we love the town, the guest relations manager and the breakfast room staff, we are excited to move on as the hotel has fallen so short in so many ways. One other positive that I should mention to be fair is that the housekeeping was great as there is also turn down service which we appreciated but in a room so old and lacking amenities, it was difficult to make up for it. I must also mention that I contacted Expedia about my experience and the person at Expedia said they couldn’t do anything to help me as we already checked in. I explained that we were made to feel like we did something wrong even though we already paid for a suite. The additional cost I suppose was for the breakfast that my kids couldn’t eat at all. The Expedia person was able to contact our Barcelona hotel about adding my kids to the reservation and it was done seamlessly without any additional charge. Hotel Concordia’s nickel and diming on top of an already exorbitant rate for very subpar amenities and room facilities was in poor taste but worse than that, the stern lady at reception was absolutely awful, never acknowledged my kids except for how much more they would cost.

Gorgeous period hotel, but with a surprising modern bathroom! Shower was hot and powerful, something I always think is necessary in any hotel. Comfortable bed and lovely decorated room, plenty of space for us for a few days. Surprisingly quiet even though we had a lovely view of the square, and I am always aware of any noise! The staff were pleasant but not very informative, I asked for restaurant recommendations but was only given one, which sadly was out of our budget, and we were only told of the complimentary taxi to Murano after we had been and on our last day. The breakfast was good for the money paid, but I would have liked some hot toast. The only thing missing for me was tea/coffee in the room, this would have made it perfect! Thank you Concordia, we had a lovely visit to Venice and would definitely recommend and stay again.
