Weather in Thailand in July

Some areas stay warm and humid through July, though the heat is usually tempered by afternoon showers.

• Bangkok: Warmest Regions in July: Corfu's sheltered bays and inland olive groves can climb well into the high twenties and beyond, so travellers who love long, sun-soaked days should look at the island's southern and western coastal villages. Dassia, on the east coast near Corfu Town, offers a relaxed seafront, calm waters and plenty of shade from pines for afternoon breaks. It is exactly the brief our Thailand holidays deals are built around.
• Ayutthaya: The former capital reached by train from the capital is typically hot in July, and its historic park is largely open-air. Ruins such as the famous temple complex are best explored early in the day, before the midday heat builds and before any showers arrive. Bicycles and tuk-tuks are common ways to get around, but the flat ground means the exertion is modest. It is an excellent day trip from the capital, and the quieter pace suits visitors who like history.
• Chiang Mai: The northern city sits inland and at higher altitude than the coastal south, so July temperatures are typically warm rather than oppressive. Rain tends to fall in spells, leaving the surrounding hills green and the air fresher than in the lowlands. The old walled quarter and its many temples are easy to enjoy between showers. This is a good choice for travellers who want warmth without the intense humidity of the capital. It is exactly the brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around.
• Sukhothai: The historical park here is an open landscape of temple ruins, and it is generally hot through July with rain arriving in bursts. Because much of the site is outdoors with limited shade, visiting by bicycle early in the morning is the sensible approach. The lower number of visitors compared with the capital makes it a calm place to explore the country's earliest kingdom. We would recommend it as a single-day or overnight stop rather than a base for a full holiday.
• Pai: This small mountain town, reached by winding road from the northern city, tends to be cooler and damper than the lowlands in July. The surrounding hills see regular showers, but the town's relaxed pace means rainy spells can be spent in cafes or at the hot springs. Road journeys can be slower in wet weather, so allow extra time for the trip in. It suits travellers who prefer a laid-back base over beach time during the monsoon.
