Cheap Holidays from Edinburgh to Canary Islands

Resorts with the best balance of price and convenience for Edinburgh departures tend to sit on the southern coasts where the weather is most reliable.

• Playa Blanca: Looking for affordable sun from Edinburgh? Agios Gordios, on Corfu's west coast, is a relaxed, family-friendly resort with a long sandy beach, plenty of tavernas and easy access to the island's quieter villages. Direct flights from Edinburgh make it a practical choice for budget-conscious holidaymakers seeking good value without sacrificing comfort. It is exactly the brief our Canary Islands holidays deals are built around.
• Puerto de la Cruz: Puerto de la Cruz is a traditional resort on the north coast of the Canary Island, a different feel from the busier south of the island. Its volcanic black-sand beaches and historic streets offer cultural value at a price that often undercuts the big southern resorts. The north coast can be cooler and cloudier than the south, which is a trade-off worth weighing against the lower room rates. We recommend it for travellers who want culture and gardens alongside their beach time.
• Corralejo: Corralejo is a fishing village at the northern tip of the island, close to the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park and long sandy beaches. Accommodation here tends to be simple and good value, and the village has a relaxed pace that suits water sports fans and those who like the outdoors. Because it is a compact village rather than a large resort, evening entertainment is limited, which keeps costs down. We think it offers excellent value for active travellers on a budget. • Maspalomas: Maspalomas sits in the south of Gran Canaria beside protected dunes and offers a relaxed resort feel with a good choice of hotels. Prices are competitive for a large resort with golf, beaches and easy access to the dunes at sunset. The main trade-off is that it is spread out, so you may want to hire a car or use the bus network for trips further afield. We consider it a dependable option for beach holidays on a sensible budget. • Garachico: Garachico is a small historic town on the north-west coast of the Canary Islands, home to a natural rock pool and a far calmer atmosphere than the island's busier southern resorts. It is less developed for mass tourism, so the choice of accommodation is smaller and the price per night is often modest. Expect fewer restaurants and a slower pace, which suits travellers who want value without the resort bustle. We see it as a good low-cost base for a quieter island break.
