Booking with Travelodeal means your money goes towards a complete package, not separate bookings. We combine flights, transfers and accommodation into one trip, so the costs you pay upfront are the costs you take on. Everything sits under one protected booking, giving you a single point of contact and transparent pricing, with no hidden extras.

Christmas holidays to Thailand fall in the cool, dry season, roughly November to February, with comfortable weather across most regions. Humidity and rainfall are lowest on the Andaman coast and Gulf islands, suiting beach days and temple visits. Cool early mornings in Bangkok and Chiang Mai suit market walks, while warm evenings suit waterside seafood dinners. Book early, as festive demand rises and top-value resorts sell out before December.

Our role is to match the right region to the right traveller, so that the weather, the pace and the resort style all line up with your Christmas plans. We check the seasonal conditions, the transfer times between islands and cities, and the practical details that are easy to overlook when booking alone. We also keep the inclusions clear, so you know exactly what is covered before you pay, and we are on hand to talk through every option with you.

Why Book Christmas Holidays to Thailand

Varied landscapes

The country moves from the mountains around Chiang Mai to the limestone karsts of Krabi within a single trip. Each region feels distinct, so you rarely run out of new scenery. Travellers often comment that the contrast is the highlight.

Temple heritage

Bangkok's Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha sit at the centre of the Thai capital. Ayutthaya, the former capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site about 80 km north of Bangkok. Together these sites tell a long story of Siamese kingdoms.

Island choice

Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui offer very different island characters within easy reach of one another. Phuket is the largest island and has an airport with direct flights from Bangkok. Koh Samui has its own airport, which keeps resort transfers simple.

Food culture

Street food is central to daily life, and dishes such as pad Thai and som tam are sold almost everywhere. Northern specialities like khao soi show how regional the cooking can be. Eating well here rarely costs a great deal.

Easy internal travel

Bangkok is served by the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro, which make city days straightforward. Domestic flights link the capital with island and northern airports. Longer journeys by train or bus are also well established, and most routes run daily across the country, giving you flexibility to adjust plans as you travel.

Range for every budget

You can spend freely on boutique resorts or keep costs modest with guesthouses and local eating. The variety of stays means you can match the trip to your budget. Our team will explain what each option includes before you commit.

Your Guide to Christmas Holidays to Thailand

These destinations offer the most reliable warmth and dry weather during the December and January school break.

Phuket: Phuket sits on the Andaman coast and enjoys dry, warm conditions through the core of the winter season, with the south-west monsoon largely behind it by December. Its airport offers direct flights from the capital, which keeps onward travel short once you arrive. The trade-off is that the busiest beach areas fill quickly over the festive period, so we recommend booking early. For travellers who want reliable sunshine and an easy base, we think Phuket remains the strongest choice. value-led deals on this coast suit sun-seekers well. It is exactly the brief our Thailand Beach Holidays deals are built around.
Krabi: Krabi enjoys the same dry-season sunshine as the wider Andaman coast, with calm seas for swimming and snorkelling trips out to the offshore islands. The dramatic limestone scenery stays comfortable to explore in the cooler months, which suits active travellers. Access to some beaches is by longtail boat, so plan for a short crossing on certain days. We see this province as a strong option for travellers who want scenery and warmth in equal measure.
Koh Samui: Koh Samui lies in the Gulf of Thailand, where the weather pattern differs slightly from the Andaman side, so it is worth checking the conditions for your specific dates. Its airport offers direct flights from the capital city, which makes the island a convenient choice for a resort-focused stay, the same brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around. The island has a wide range of hotels and beaches, giving you options from simple to refined. We recommend this island for travellers who want an easy base with plenty of choice.
Chiang Mai: Chiang Mai sits in the north, at a higher elevation than the coastal resorts, which keeps its temperatures milder and more comfortable during the cool season. The city is surrounded by mountains, and the temples and old walled centre are pleasant to explore without the heat of the south. Days are warm and evenings can feel cool, so pack layers. For travellers who prefer a gentler climate and a culture-led trip, the northern capital is a dependable choice.
Ayutthaya: Ayutthaya lies in central Thailand, and its historic ruins are easily reached by train from the capital, making them a practical day trip during the cooler months. The dry season makes walking between the temple ruins far more comfortable than in the hotter months. The site is extensive, so allow time for bicycles or tuk-tuks rather than walking everything. We think this historic town works well as a relaxed day out for those already staying in the city.

These family-friendly resorts combine calm beaches, child-friendly attractions and straightforward travel for school-break stays.

Pattaya: Pattaya sits a comfortable couple of hours by road from the capital, which keeps transfers simple and stress-free for families travelling with young children. The resort offers several water parks and attractions suited to younger visitors, so there is plenty to fill every day. Its beach areas and hotels are close together, which makes getting around straightforward. We recommend this lively resort for families who want plenty of organised activities. Thailand family holidays here combine convenience with fun.
Khao Lak: Khao Lak has calm, gently shelving beaches that are easier for children to enjoy in the shallows, and its resorts tend to be quieter than the busiest island areas. Nearby, a national park of towering rainforest and waterfalls offers a day of jungle scenery for families who want something beyond the beach. Its quieter pace suits school-break travellers who prefer a slower rhythm. For families seeking calm water and nature, this stretch of coast is an excellent fit.
Family resorts: This island offers a broad range of family resorts with beaches, pools and on-site activities that keep children busy between excursions. Direct flights from the capital city mean you can reach the island without a long overland journey. Some areas are busier than others, so we advise choosing a location near the quieter beaches. For families wanting resort comforts and easy logistics, this island remains one of our most reliable recommendations.
Good to know: Older children often enjoy the hands-on cultural experiences available in the city and nearby hills. Getting around the sights tends to be slower and less hectic than in the capital city, which suits families with younger children. We see the northern capital as a good choice for families who prefer culture and gentle activity over beach-focused days.
Koh Chang: Koh Chang offers a relaxed blend of child-friendly accommodation, shallow bays and gentle jungle walks, making it an easy base for a multi-generational trip. The island is reached by ferry from Trat, and the dry season supports calm beach days throughout the school break. The quieter west coast is less busy during the festive period, so choosing a stay there helps households find space. This is the same brief our Thailand Last Minute Holidays deals are built around: a slower pace with plenty of options within one stay.
