New Year to Thailand

Several resort areas offer calm beaches, water attractions and easy logistics, which is useful when travelling with children over the school break.

• Pattaya: Pattaya is a practical choice for families because it has several water parks and attractions suited to children, along with beach areas and hotels that are straightforward to reach from the capital. The drive takes around two hours by road, which keeps transfers manageable with young travellers. During the New Year period the resort offers plenty to fill a busy week of activities. It suits families who want entertainment close to the sea without travelling far from the airport hub. Thailand Family Holidays can help you compare options.
• Khao Lak: Khao Lak is a family favourite thanks to its calm, gently sloping shoreline, which is generally easier for children to paddle and play along than steeper coastlines. The resorts here are quieter than the busiest southern hubs, and the area sits near a national park for a gentle day of nature. The cool, dry season gives comfortable conditions for outdoor family days. We find Khao Lak works well for parents who want a relaxed seaside stay with space to breathe.
• Family resorts: The island offers a range of family-friendly resorts with sandy shorelines and organised activities, and its airport allows direct flights from the capital, which removes a long road transfer from the journey. The setting's sheltered coves and established hotel base make it simple to plan a week of pool time, sunny days on the sand and short excursions. Its popularity means family rooms can book up during the school break, so early reservation is wise. It is a dependable option for families who value comfort and easy access.
• Railay Beach: Railay Beach has a handful of family-friendly resorts tucked between limestone cliffs, reachable only by longtail boat from the nearby mainland pier, which gives parents a peaceful, car-free setting for younger children. Calm water in the bay suits gentle swimming and snorkelling, and the lagoon-style shallows are ideal for little ones. Over the cool, dry months conditions are generally pleasant for families. We suggest it to parents who want a quieter, more secluded beach stay within a single destination.
• Koh Lipe: Koh Lipe offers family stays on a compact, car-free island where the sand is soft and the water is shallow and clear, ideal for young children. Most accommodation sits within a short walk of the beach, so families can settle in quickly without long transfers. Day trips by longtail boat reach snorkelling spots around the surrounding islands, giving older children a taste of adventure. Over the New Year period the dry season tends to bring calmer seas and sunny days for swimming. We recommend it for families who want relaxed beach time with easy excursions close at hand, the same brief our Cheap Thailand Holidays deals are built around.
