Adults Only Holidays to Canary Islands

Each island offers a different balance of scenery, beaches and pace, so the right choice depends on what you want from your time away.

• Teide National Park: Teide National Park sits in the centre of Tenerife and is built around Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The landscape of lava fields and volcanic rock is unlike any beach holiday, and the cable car takes you close to the summit for views across the archipelago. Days here are best planned for cooler mornings and early starts, since the terrain is exposed and the sun is strong. For adults who want scenery and walking alongside a beach base, the park is the island's standout attraction. It is exactly the brief our Canary Islands All Inclusive Holidays deals are built around.
• Lanzarote: Lanzarote is the most distinctive of the islands, with a dramatic volcanic landscape shaped by eruptions that changed the land in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The artist César Manrique left a lasting mark on the island, with his design work visible in restaurants, viewpoints and gardens across the north and east. Its beaches tend to be calmer and smaller than those found on the neighbouring islands, which suits couples who want a quiet coastline. For adults who value design, scenery and a slower rhythm, Lanzarote is a strong choice. It is exactly the brief our Canary Islands Luxury Holidays deals are built around.
• Gran Canaria: Gran Canaria combines a large, varied coastline with a mountainous interior, giving adults a wider choice of activity than most of the smaller islands. The southern resorts have long sandy beaches, while the centre offers hiking routes to striking rock formations. The island is larger, so driving times between the north and south can be significant, and we advise staying in one area rather than moving between bases. For a balance of beach, hiking and urban life, Gran Canaria offers more range than most. It is exactly the brief our Canary Islands Beach Holidays deals are built around.
• La Gomera: La Gomera is one of the quieter islands in the archipelago, with a small population, a mountainous interior and a laurel forest protected within Garajonay National Park. Its villages are low-rise and unhurried, and the walking routes through the forest are among the most rewarding on the islands. Hotel choice is more limited than on Tenerife, and ferries connect it to the other islands at set times. For adults seeking hiking and a genuinely slow pace, La Gomera is a rewarding escape.
• Fuerteventura: Fuerteventura is the closest of the main islands to the African coast and is known for wide sandy beaches and strong, steady winds. Its beaches are among the longest in the archipelago, giving couples plenty of room to walk and find a quiet stretch of sand. The island is more arid than its neighbours, so shade and water are important on hot days. For adults who prefer open beaches and a laid-back island feel, Fuerteventura is one of the most rewarding choices. It is exactly the brief our Canary Islands Family Holidays deals are built around.
