Summer Holidays to Canary Islands

These islands offer the most reliable summer warmth, and the places below are chosen for their sunshine and sea conditions.

• Playa de las Américas: Playa de las Américas sits on the south coast of the island, where the sheltered bay and long hours of sunshine make it one of the most dependable spots for a hot summer break. The resort receives less wind than the north of the island, so the sea and the promenade feel warm even on the hottest afternoons. You will find a wide choice of hotels and restaurants along the front, making it easy to spend the day on the sand and walk back to your room in the evening. Expect a busier atmosphere in peak weeks, but the warmth and convenience make it a strong choice for guaranteed heat. It is exactly the brief our holiday deals to the Canary Islands are built around. • Maspalomas: Maspalomas, on the southern tip of Gran Canaria, offers hot, dry summer weather that suits sunseekers who want consistent sun from morning until evening. The resort sits beside a protected dune system, so you can walk out from the promenade onto soft sand and enjoy open views of the coast. Summer brings the strongest heat here, and the resort has plenty of shade by the pool and on the beach terraces to help you pace your days. It is a good fit for couples and families who want a relaxed, warm base with easy access to the dunes. It is exactly the brief our Gran Canaria holidays deals are built around.
• Playa Blanca: Playa Blanca sits on the southern shore of the island, where the dry, sunny conditions keep summer days hot and the sea calm and clear. The resort is quieter than the larger centres, with sandy beaches and a waterfront lined with restaurants that stay open into warm evenings. Its position on the south coast gives you more sun and less cloud than the north, which is an advantage when you are planning a full summer week of beach days. Choose it if you want reliable warmth in a low-key setting. It is exactly the brief our island holiday deals are built around. It is exactly the brief our island holiday deals are built around. • Corralejo: Corralejo, at the northern tip of the Canary Islands' sandy eastern neighbour, is one of the most reliably sunny and breezy bases for summer. The trade winds bring a steady wind that keeps temperatures comfortable, which is ideal for walking through the nearby dunes without overheating in the middle of the day. The village has a relaxed fishing-port character, and the sandy beaches stretch away from the centre so you can always find a quieter stretch of sand. We think it suits travellers who want warm weather with a fresh breeze rather than the stillest heat. It is exactly the brief our island holiday deals are built around. • Puerto de la Cruz: Puerto de la Cruz is a traditional resort on the north coast of the island, where summer temperatures are warm but often moderated by the trade winds. The north side of the island can be cooler and cloudier than the south, so it is a more gentle option if you find intense midday heat tiring. The town's old streets and volcanic black-sand beaches give you a different kind of summer holiday, with culture and gardens close by.
