Winter Sun Holidays to Morocco

Clean, well-managed beaches make the Atlantic coast a reliable choice for a winter sun break.

• Agadir: Agadir offers one of Morocco's largest sandy bays, backed by a long promenade that is pleasant for walks even when the sea is too cool for swimming. The resort is well served by its airport, which keeps transfers short and simple, and the beachfront has plenty of cafes and sun terraces. The trade-off is that Agadir is a modern resort rather than a historic town, so it suits those who want sunshine and facilities first. We recommend it as a dependable base for winter sun seekers who value ease above atmosphere. It is exactly the brief our Morocco Beach Holidays deals are built around.
• Essaouira: Essaouira's beaches are wind-swept and dramatic, and the town's sheltered harbour gives a calmer counterpoint to the open Atlantic sands. The fortified medina is a short walk from the beach, so you can combine a morning on the sand with an afternoon among the artisan workshops. Winds can be strong, which suits windsurfers and kitesurfers but may not appeal to those wanting still, sheltered water. We often place couples and slower travellers here for its relaxed rhythm.
• Tangier: Tangier sits close to the Strait of Gibraltar, so the sea and coastline have a distinct character, with views across towards Spain on clear days. The city is a practical gateway for travellers who want a mix of urban life and coastal walks, and its position makes it useful for combining sea and culture, the same brief our Morocco holidays deals are built around. Traffic and city bustle are more noticeable here than in smaller resorts, so it is best for visitors comfortable in an active port city. We suggest it for short stays that add variety to a longer itinerary.
• Asilah: Asilah is a small whitewashed fortified town on the Atlantic coast, known for its colourful street murals and quiet beach nearby. It is far less visited than the big resorts, which gives it a calm, unhurried feel that many winter travellers prefer. The trade-off is limited nightlife and a smaller choice of hotels, so booking early is wise. We find it ideal for travellers who want seaside walks and a sense of discovery rather than a busy resort strip.
• Oualidia: Oualidia is a small lagoon town near El Jadida, sheltered from the open ocean and known for its oysters and calm, shallow water. The setting is peaceful, making it a restful stop for those who want seafood and quiet days rather than a packed programme. Facilities are modest compared with larger resorts, so it works best as part of a wider itinerary. We recommend it for food-focused travellers seeking a genuinely quiet coastal break.
