Cheap Holidays to Morocco in January

Resort stays are often the easiest place to find value in January, provided you pick the right coastal base for mild weather and reliable amenities.

• Agadir: Agadir is the most established package resort on the Atlantic coast and the obvious starting point for a budget winter break. Its long sandy bay and promenade stay pleasant through January, and the resort offers a wide spread of hotels at different price points. The main trade-off is that it is a modern, purpose-built resort rather than a historic town, so the appeal is sunshine, beach time and easy facilities. For value-focused travellers who want a reliable base with a simple airport transfer, this remains the strongest starting choice this month. It is exactly the brief our Morocco holidays deals are built around.
• Essaouira: Essaouira is a fortified seaside town where accommodation tends to be more modest in price than the larger resorts, and the pace suits a quieter winter stay. The medina sits within walking distance of the harbour, so you can spend a week without needing taxis for everyday outings. Winds can be strong on the beaches in January, which suits walkers and photographers more than sunbathers. We recommend it for travellers who value character and seafood over a resort-style setting.
• Marrakech: Marrakech offers a wide range of riads and hotels, and winter is one of the more affordable periods to stay in the city centre. The medina and the Jemaa el-Fnaa square provide plenty to do without the cost of organised excursions, and the Atlas Mountains are visible on clear days. Expect cooler evenings than the summer months and occasional rain, which can affect outdoor plans. It is a strong pick for culture-led travellers on a tight budget, and you can explore the local sights with ease. Cheap Morocco Holidays
• Chefchaouen: Chefchaouen is a mountain town in the Rif range known for its blue-painted medina, and it is generally quieter and less expensive than the imperial cities in winter. The town is compact and best explored on foot, which keeps daily costs low. Winters here are cool and can be damp, so pack warm layers and sturdy shoes. It suits slow travellers and photographers who want a calm, budget-friendly base.
• Fes: Fes offers one of the deepest medinas in Morocco, and January is a good month to explore its craft quarters without the bustle of peak season. Accommodation in the old town can be good value outside the summer months. The city is cooler and wetter in winter, and the narrow alleys can feel muddy after rain. It is well suited to history lovers who want a rich cultural stay at a modest price.
