Cheap Winter Sun Holidays to Morocco

Clean, well-managed beaches make these coastal bases a dependable choice for winter sun.

• Agadir: Agadir is the mainstay of our winter sun programme, with a long sandy bay and a promenade that runs for several kilometres along the Atlantic front. The beach is wide enough that you can find space even at midday, and the resort has the widest range of hotels and facilities on the coast. Its winters are reliably mild and sunny, which is why it draws so many repeat visitors. For most families and first-time visitors it is the simplest base to recommend. • Essaouira: Essaouira offers a gentler, more characterful beach experience than the big resorts, with wind-swept sand that suits walkers and those who enjoy watching the surf. The town sits within a short walk of its fortified medina, so afternoons can mix beach time with browsing for craft goods. Winters here are cooler and breezier than along the southern Moroccan coast, which some travellers prefer for active days. It is a strong choice if you want the sea without the resort atmosphere, the same brief our Morocco holidays deals are built around.
• Tangier: Tangier sits close to the Strait of Gibraltar, and its Mediterranean-facing shoreline gives winter visitors a different kind of coast from the Atlantic resorts. The city is a short distance from Spain, which makes it a practical choice for those combining a North African stay with a wider Iberian route. Beaches here are shorter and busier than in the south, so we suggest them for shorter stays built around city time, the same brief our Morocco Last Minute Holidays deals are built around. Expect a cooler, changeable climate than the southern coast.
• Asilah: Asilah is a small whitewashed fortified town on the Atlantic coast, a short drive south of the northern city gateway, with a beach that is quieter than most in the region. The old walls and painted street murals give the town a distinct character that suits slower, art-minded travellers, the same brief our Morocco Luxury Holidays deals are built around. The beach is best enjoyed on clear winter days when the light is good for walking. It is a calm alternative for those who want fewer crowds and a more intimate setting.
• Oualidia: Oualidia is a small lagoon town on the Atlantic coast near El Jadida, known for its calm waters and seafood stalls. The sheltered lagoon makes it easier for families with younger children to paddle safely than on exposed open beaches. The town is quiet in winter, which suits anyone who wants a restful stop rather than a busy resort. Its appeal lies in simplicity, fresh oysters and a slower daily rhythm.
