Cheap Holidays to Canary Islands in January

These resort areas tend to offer the most competitive January rates because they combine good hotel stock with reliable winter sunshine.

• Costa Adeje: Costa Adeje in the south-west of Tenerife is a strong choice for value in January because it has a large range of hotels at different price points and a dependable mix of sheltered beaches. The resort is served by Tenerife South airport, which keeps transfer times short and usually cheaper than longer coastal drives. Families in particular find that the water parks and resort facilities justify the price. We recommend it for travellers who want choice and convenience rather than a quiet village. • Maspalomas: Maspalomas on the south coast of Gran Canaria offers relaxed resort holidays in January with mild afternoons and beaches backed by the protected dune system. Its hotels are spread across a wide area, so prices can vary noticeably between the older low-rise properties and newer complexes. Choosing a stay a short walk from the promenade keeps costs down without losing access to the dunes. It suits couples and older travellers who value calm over nightlife. Gran Canaria holidays
• Playa Blanca: Playa Blanca in the south of the island is one of the quieter budget choices for January, with sandy beaches and a compact resort centre that is easy to explore on foot. The town sits at the southern tip of the island, so airport transfers across the island are straightforward, though the drive can take a while if you are staying further along the coast. Prices are often lower midweek and on shorter stays. It is a good fit for travellers who want beach days without a busy atmosphere.
• Puerto de la Cruz: Puerto de la Cruz on the north coast of Tenerife is a traditional resort that tends to offer more modest January prices than the busiest southern developments. The town has volcanic black-sand beaches, historic streets and gardens, and the north coast is often a little cooler and greener than the south. Hotels here are generally older and smaller, which can mean better value for a longer stay. We suggest it for culture-minded visitors who are happy with a slower pace.
• Corralejo: Corralejo at the northern tip of the island is a value-focused resort for January, with sandy beaches, a fishing harbour and easy access to the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park. The village is compact, so restaurants and shops are within walking distance of most accommodation. Airport transfers on this island are longer than from some other islands, which is worth factoring into your total cost, the same kind of practical detail our holidays to the Canary Islands deals are built around. It works well for water sports enthusiasts and visitors who want a relaxed, low-key base. Holidays to this destination are a popular choice for sun seekers.
