October Half Term to Canary Islands

Autumn keeps coastal temperatures comfortably warm, and these southern and eastern bases tend to hold the most reliable sunshine.

• Playa Blanca, Lanzarote: Playa Blanca sits in the south of Lanzarote, where the island's rain shadow tends to keep days dry and bright through October. The resort offers sandy beaches and easy ferry links to Fuerteventura, which suits a week of gentle exploring. Its calm, low-key character makes it a sensible choice when warmth matters more than nightlife. We would recommend it for couples and families who want reliable sun in a relaxed setting. • Maspalomas, Gran Canaria: Maspalomas lies in the south of Gran Canaria, where the coast is among the sunniest on the island during the autumn months. Its beaches run alongside the protected dunes, giving you wide, warm stretches of sand within a short walk of the resort. The area has a relaxed resort feel with golf and a choice of hotels, which suits a stay built around sunshine. It is a dependable pick if warmth is your first priority for the week. • Costa Adeje, Tenerife: Costa Adeje is a resort area in the south-west of Tenerife, sheltered from the north-east trade winds that can cool the island's northern coasts. Its beaches and hotels benefit from long hours of sunshine, and the area is well served by direct flights from the UK. The trade-off is that it can feel busy at peak times, so booking a quieter stretch of the coast helps. For a warm week with plenty of options, it remains one of our most reliable recommendations. • Corralejo, Fuerteventura: Corralejo sits at the north tip of Fuerteventura beside the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, and its coastline is consistently breezy and bright in autumn. The village is a fishing base with long sandy beaches, and the warm, steady conditions suit families and watersports fans alike. Expect a steadier wind than the south coast, which is a bonus on warm afternoons but worth planning around for small children. It is a strong choice for a sunny, active week. Fuerteventura holidays
• Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife: Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife sits on the island's north coast, where autumn days are warm but a touch cooler and cloudier than in the south. Its volcanic black-sand beaches and historic streets make it a good base for travellers who want culture alongside a mild week. The north coast tends to suit those who prefer gentler temperatures to full-on heat, which is exactly the brief our Canary Islands Luxury Holidays deals are built around. We recommend it for a calmer, more traditional stay where warmth comes with a slower pace.
